Our featured author, Józef Hen, is a Polish-Jewish novelist, essayist and screenwriter. He was born in Warsaw and continues to live there. Warsaw figures prominently in many of his books, including Nowolipie Street. In recognition of his literary achievements, in 2009 he was awarded a prestigious City of Warsaw Literary Award for his works “about Warsaw, in Warsaw, and for Warsaw.”
Hen is well known in Poland and abroad. His works have been translated into over twenty languages.

Hen’s short stories appeared in an anthology of the best contemporary story tellers published in Holland in 1978 and in an anthology of the world’s most beautiful love stories published in Israel in 1992.
